Year 6 Play Leaders

This year, our Year 6s are taking on the exciting role of play leaders during lunchtime. They’re in charge of planning and running games and activities for everyone from Year 1 through Year 6. Their goal is to make playtime fun and inclusive for all pupils, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere on the playground.

Play leaders do much more than just organise games. They help build friendships and teamwork across different year groups, making sure everyone feels included and happy. By running these activities, they boost the confidence and independence of younger pupils while teaching them how to follow rules. Their presence helps keep playtime safe and enjoyable for everyone.

To get ready for their roles, Year 6 pupils go through training at the end of Year 5. This training covers important skills like how to explain games clearly and handle conflicts. They also learn how to make sure everyone can join in and have a good time, no matter their abilities or interests.
