After School clubshelp students to learn about themselves and to develop and use their skills and knowledge in different contexts and at Bewick Bridge, we are committed to providing our children with a range of opportunities to allow them to do so.
Lunchtime Clubs
The intent of ourlunchtime clubswill be to provide the children at Bewick Bridge with the opportunity to continue to develop their skills in a variety of sports and to increase their physical activity levels.
Each week, every class will be scheduled for at least one 25-minute slot and these will also be run by a sports coach. Additionally, throughout the week, there will be some slots available to support children to prepare for competitions. Our young leaders will also be leading activities for our KS1 and KS2 children during lunchtime.

Forest school club
Children will have the opportunity to develop their outdoor skills and learn about nature through hands-on activities. They will participate in projects that foster teamwork, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the natural environment. This immersive experience will provide them with unique learning opportunities beyond the regular school curriculum, encouraging personal growth and a love for the outdoors.
Choir club
Children will develop their musical skills, confidence, and teamwork through regular rehearsals, vocal exercises, and group performances. Participants will learn how to use their voices correctly, improve pitch and rhythm, and sing in harmony while building listening skills and musical understanding.
Gardening club
Children will have the opportunity to explore nature, grow their own plants, and learn practical gardening skills. They will experience planting seeds, caring for plants, and observing how things grow throughout the seasons. The club encourages teamwork, patience, and a love for the outdoors, offering a range of hands-on activities that bring learning to life.
Art club
Children will develop their drawing skills while exploring a range of different materials and techniques. They will have time to experiment, practise, and improve through a variety of projects, working with materials in greater detail as their confidence grows. The club encourages creativity and allows children to explore their own ideas in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Inventors coding club
Children will have the opportunity to explore programming and electronics using the Kitronik Inventor’s Kit for BBC micro:bit. They will experience hands-on experiments, learning to code in Python and create interactive circuits - no prior experience needed! Guided step-by-step, they’ll bring their ideas to life while developing problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and creativity with technology.
Humanities club
Children will become history detectives and geography explorers! They will investigate the past through artefacts and stories, and map the world through hands-on projects. The club encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the people and places that shape our world.
Latin Language programme
Delivered in partnership with Classics for All, children will develop their language skills and historical understanding through the engaging Minimus Latin course. Pupils will work on key techniques, like decoding vocabulary, understanding grammar, and translating sentences, while building confidence and a love for the ancient world.
Football club
Children will develop their technical skills, teamwork, and tactical understanding of the game through drills, small-sided matches, and fun challenges. Players will work on passing, dribbling, shooting, and defending while building confidence, sportsmanship, and a love for the sport.
Gymnastics club
Children will have the opportunity to develop their movement skills, balance, and coordination through fun and engaging activities. They will experience a range of gymnastic techniques, including floor work, jumps, and basic apparatus skills. The club will allow them to build confidence, strength, and flexibility while exploring gymnastics.
Dodgeball club
Children will have the opportunity to develop quick reflexes, accurate throwing skills and tactical awareness through exciting team games. They will experience different throwing techniques, learn official dodgeball rules and practice strategic gameplay in a fun, competitive environment.
Table tennis and Badminton club
Children will develop their technical skills, hand-eye coordination, and tactical understanding through fun drills, skill challenges, and exciting matches. Players will work on key techniques - like serving, rallying, and footwork - while building confidence, sportsmanship, and a love for racket sports in a fun, supportive environment.
Tag Rugby club
Children will develop their passing, evasion, and teamwork skills in a fun, non-contact version of rugby. They will learn the rules of the game, improve their speed and agility, and apply tactics in small-sided matches. The club offers a chance to play at a higher level than in regular PE lessons, fostering sportsmanship and confidence in a competitive yet inclusive environment.
