Welcome to Reception! This half term, we will be learning about ourselves and each other through our topic 'All About Us'.
This week, we had a visit from lighting technicians from The Junction. Together, we looked at how we could add different colours using spot lights.
At the start of the next half term, we will be sharing our learning about our new school community with a guided walk around our school, led by the Reception children.
In our phonics session, the children have been learning about the sounds made by the following letters: m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k. We have also practised writing them.
In maths this week, we are looking at recognising quantities either by counting them one by one, or by seeing them as arrangements of amounts in small groups.
Take time to read a story with your child at bed time. If you would like story recommendations or to borrow a book please talk to Ms Hulston.
Encourage your child to colour and draw, so as to get ready for letter formation. If you would like to borrow any craft materials, please talk to Ms Hulston.
You can support your child's sense of number by counting steps, forwards and backwards, as you go up stairs and by counting scoops of food.
